For this week’s fan submitted story, we have a tale from a fan named Rachel. She and her daughter had an encounter with a winged creature one evening back in November of 2022. It took place in Davie County, North Carolina.
My daughter and I saw something driving at dusk last fall. I know it wasn’t the Mothman like I originally thought it could be; because I researched him and the pictures don’t look anything like what we saw. The only way I can accurately explain it is a HUGE wolf with wings that spanned at least (the VERY least) 10 foot. We were traveling down one of our main rural roads – 2 lanes running through a rural area. A few houses speckle the area over the stretch of about 5 miles. I saw the tops of the trees, to my right, less than a 1/4 mile ahead, moving and swaying pretty hard. Then I saw it running or leaping through the trees somehow. When it reached the road way, it leapt without stopping, across both lanes and directly into the other grove of trees, now on the left side of the road. It turned its head and looked directly at our vehicle. It happened so fast I had taken my foot off the pedal but hadn’t hit my brakes yet. We were moving down the bottom of the hill and he was at the top where we were heading towards.
We had a clear, unobstructed view. The sun was going down back behind our vehicle. I think I lost all the blood in my head, to my stomach. It scared me pretty bad! And I have seen some pretty messed up paranormal things in my 48 years. I immediately thought about my daughter and didn’t want to scare her so I didn’t say a word. I put my foot back on the pedal and acted like nothing happened. (I was however gripping the steering wheel hard!) She turns to me, wide eyed, and says “mom! Omg! Did you see that??” Her face was full of terror! She’s 14. I told her yes I did see it but didn’t want to scare her. I assured her whatever it was was gone. We watched the trees closely and they weren’t moving near us, or anywhere we could see, as we approached and passed the place of its crossing. She gave the exact same account to my husband when we got home. We didn’t imagine this. We don’t pass this spot now without getting a chill up our backs, and going back to that day, trying to figure out what we saw.
