Located just off of Interstate 35, less than 1 mile from the Point Pleasant exit is The Mothman Museum. It is home to a huge collection of props and memorabilia from the movie The Mothman Prophecies. You’ll also find rare historical documents from the Mothman eyewitnesses themselves, police reports, lifelike costume/replica (perfect for photo ops), tons of Mothman Merchandise, and even a Mothman video game you can play at the museum!
Check out the tour Museum Owner Jeff Wamsley gave us at the Museum on 5/21/22!
The museum got its beginnings in Jeff’s record store located where The Coffee Grinder is now. People kept coming to the record store looking for information on The Mothman and to see Jeff’s collection of Mothman related items in the store. In 2006 Jeff decided to open up The Mothman Museum in its original location (now the site of The Point Pleasant Trading Company).
In 2015 the Museum moved to its current location, perfectly sitting next to the Mothman Statue in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. If you’ve already been to the Museum in the past be sure to check back, Jeff and crew frequently add new exhibits and features to the Museum. Future plans include a Mothman ’66 Escape Room located above the Mothman Museum. For more information check out their website and Facebook page where they post new information regularly.
