Boone County, 1994 — The Hunters’ Encounter
Two hunters were deep in the forests of Boone County, West Virginia, when they spotted a large, white creature near a creek. It stood on all fours at first but then reared up on its hind legs, towering over them at nearly 9 feet tall.
One of them described the creature as having thick, woolly fur, horns like a ram, and glowing red eyes. They reported that it let out a loud, guttural screech and charged—but stopped just short of the hunters. Then it turned and ran off into the woods, leaving behind a nasty sulfuric stench.
Campers in 1995 — The Screaming Beast
A group of campers were spending the night in the Appalachian hills when they heard loud rustling in the brush, followed by a horrifying scream unlike any animal they knew. Then, from the shadows, the campers caught sight of a massive white creature with long limbs and glowing eyes.
One camper claimed the creature approached their camp before backing away slowly and disappearing into the trees—again, leaving a rotten-egg smell behind. They packed up and left before sunrise.
Car Encounter, 1999 — On a Dirt Road at Night
A man driving on an isolated road near the TNT area (same place linked to Mothman sightings) claimed he saw a huge, pale figure dart across the road on all fours. His headlights briefly illuminated what looked like a wool-covered body with a head like a goat and clawed hands.
When he slowed down to look, the creature stood up on two legs and stared at him before vanishing into the woods. He later said it felt like the creature wanted him to see it.
Occasional modern-day reports pop up on forums and Reddit from hikers and campers who claim to see a “large white animal” or hear unsettling sounds like a cross between a bleat and a growl. Most mention the creature vanishing quickly, as if watching but avoiding contact.
