Lowell, North Carolina, may be a quiet town, but one evening in the late 2000s turned that calm into something unforgettable. Around 2009 or 2010, a local resident experienced something that would haunt his memory for years a strange and terrifying encounter with a mysterious object hovering in the night sky.
It was a typical Saturday evening, just before 9 p.m., the time the Syfy Channel usually premiered new movies. Sitting comfortably in his recliner, he reached for the remote to unwind but that’s when things took a bizarre turn. The television began flipping through channels on its own, so fast it was impossible for anyone to press the buttons that quickly. Even changing the batteries didn’t help. It was as if something unseen had taken control.
Deciding to give up and call it a night, he switched off the TV and the light but the room remained strangely bright. At first, he thought it might be a neighbor’s car headlights or a police searchlight. But when he looked out the window, his heart sank.
The light wasn’t coming from the ground… it was coming from above.
Pulling back the curtain, he was met with a blinding glow that filled the room. Shielding his eyes, he called for his mother. Together, they watched in awe as a massive, round object hovered silently in the sky above their neighborhood. It glowed so brightly it looked almost like a second moon, only closer much closer.

The pieces sparkled like jewels in the dark sky before slowly merging back together into one solid, glowing orb.
And then without a sound it was gone. The object shot off faster than anything he’d ever seen, vanishing completely in the blink of an eye.
Years later, the witness still lives in Lowell and remembers that night vividly. It wasn’t the last strange thing he’d see, but it was one of the most unforgettable. Whether it was an alien craft, a secret experiment, or something beyond our understanding, one thing is certain: that night changed the way he looked at the sky forever.
