Mothman Museum MIB Encounter: This week, we have a story that was sent to us by a fan who may have had an encounter with one of the men in black while working at The Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Back in the early 2000s, when the Mothman Museum was still in its original location in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, something very strange happened. This story comes from someone who was working there at the time, and it’s stuck with them ever since.
One day, a young man—likely in his mid-20s—walked into the museum. He was dressed in a black suit, black shoes, a tie, and sunglasses. It was the kind of look that immediately gives off Men in Black vibes. He began asking oddly specific questions about the Mothman and local UFO sightings, even referencing the movie The Cell during the conversation. The more he talked, the more uncomfortable the employee became. His line of questioning didn’t feel like casual curiosity—it felt more like an interrogation.
Feeling uneasy, the employee called for a co-worker who was in the back of the museum. Not long after, the visitor started to wrap up his questions. Just then, the employee’s grandfather walked into the museum. Before the suited man left, he asked a strange question: “Do you have any complimentary tobacco products or licorice?”
No one quite knew how to respond to that, and they told him they didn’t offer anything like that. Once he was gone, the grandfather remarked on how odd the man’s shoes were. According to him, the soles were unusually thick—about 2.5 to 3 inches high.
The person who submitted this story said that although they’ve seen many strange visitors come through the museum, this one still stands out. Something about the way he spoke, what he asked, and how he dressed just felt… off. Like he didn’t belong—or didn’t know what year it was.
Big thanks to the anonymous Mothman Museum employee who shared this truly unsettling encounter!
