This week we have a story from a fan of our Mothman Sightings Facebook group who sent in—you guessed it— a Flatwoods Monster sightings story! I’m kidding. Here’s the Mothman sighting story.
I remember in 2007 or so when I was about 14, my mom came home from a night shift at work, and she was freaking out. She would take a long mountain road home, and she was normally the only car on the road or one of the few, since it was so late at night. The mountain road was curvy, and this particular night, when she turned a curve, she saw what looked like the Mothman near a tree. She said it was huge, had wings but the body of a man, and red eyes. It looked startled to see her car. It then flew up above her car. She said it was huge! She thought it was going to pick her car up as it flew above. She was so scared, but it ended up flying away. It’s been 16 years, but if you bring it up to her, she still gets goosebumps from it. I’ll never forget how startled she seemed when she came home that night. I’m still curious about it to this day and wonder if it was the Mothman.
Thank you to the fan that posted this sighting. I tried contacting them a while back to get more information, but couldn’t get a hold of them. It’s definitely a good one to add to our collection at Spooky Appalachia, but I wish I knew where it happened!
